Gas Pedal - really sensitive! ZOOOOOOM!

2003 ex Auto

The Gas Pedal is really sensitive! I slowly try to accelerate from a dead stop and the car flys without allowing me to make a slow acceleration. (No wonder why the seat has a rocking problem)

Is there an adjustment to fix this or is this normal??

My 2010 civic doesn't act like this

The only issue I see here is your foot. Keep your toes out of the radiator.

Completely different. 8th gen uses fly-by-wire.

The 7th gen has an actual throttle cable attached to the gas pedal.

fly-by-wire throttle corrects bad driver behavior, cable actuated ones does not.

Why? Is the check engine light on or something?

Tape an egg to the gas pedal.

You sound like a troll but loosen the throttle cable lmao.
no but is your car idleing high? i doubt the throttle cable is too tight but yeah is there a check engine light on? if so go to auto parts store and get an obd2 diagnostic
still if you loosen the throttle cable and floor it it wont go zoom as much lol.

Honda Civics, especially 7th gen automatics, are just such powerful cars that they can't accelerate slowly. Your car isn't touchy, it's just a really amazingly fast car. FEEL THE HONDA POWER!!

THIS would be an example of trolling

Yeah, I have the same problem. I push the throttle about a quarter of the way down and the thing just flies. I did 0-60 in 3.43 seconds with it only push a quarter way down. I'm just going to live with it for now.

If I put the Civic gas pedal into a Geo Metro, it will go just as fast?!

Oh yeah, no problem. It might even go faster. It might even feel like you're driving a Bugatti Veyron.

Go to 5:16. Couldn't post the time mark URL for some reason.

Yeah good stuff, but that little tracker deal isn't beating the Veyron at 10.2 seconds on the quarter. But it did 13.38...which is respectable for a tractor or any common vehicle.

It's a mobility scooter, not a tractor.

I didn't know the real times of the cars involved, I am used to seeing so many supercars that are fairly slow in the 1/4 mile.....I thought the idea of someone going ballz out down the quarter, then looking over to see this dude sneaking on by on a Hoveround Powerchair....the look on the face, etc.

Re: Gas Pedal - really sensitive! ZOOOOOOM!

So I detailed my car today and put a new grille on it. It's now been externally molested for the first time.

Now my problem is when I let off the brake, I don't even push the gas pedal and the thing accelerates to 60 mph in about 1.3758932 seconds. I'm baffled. I don't know what to do about it. That eighth gen behind the top pic puked coolant all over the place. It happened be behind me going out the gate.
