Re: misfire codes

Recheck the timing? Did it have trouble before you did that?

Re: misfire codes

Timing was dead on when we did it so shouldnt be off, the only thing it did before was if I let it sit in the garage for a day or two the battery would die and when I started it, it would run fine for a minute then start misfiring like crazy but if I drove it down the road it would go back to normal. ive driven the car just about every day since and it stopped doing that on cold starts.

Re: misfire codes

Maybe... sounds like there are electrical problems too. If the battery is old, I'd replace it.

Re: misfire codes

Did you clean the EGR passages on the intake when you did the head gasket?

Re: misfire codes

yes, egr ports were so gunked in carbon took me 20 min to clean but I cleaned em. Another update here I took the plugs out last night to check them and cyl 2 plug was pure white and the other 3 were half white. and they didn't smell like anything either no gas or oil. Am I possibly running lean and not getting enough fuel? I changed fuel filter couple weeks ago and those plugs were only a month old so maybe fuel pump going?

Re: misfire codes

Have you had the fuel injectors cleaned? It sounds like you have a clogged fuel injector filter basket. You can send them out and have them cleaned and put on a flow bench for $20 at www.racecityinjector.com

Re: misfire codes

Water got into my spark plugs and i had a ton of misfires, and i could'nt get over 20mph easily. Just saying. Just take a look under the spark plugs and just make sure, or you have they bad spark plugs. If its the coil on plugs, switch coils with another plug and see if the problem follows. Im new to these forums as well so ill just put in my input and maybe it could help.
