Hey everyone, I have a 2001 civic EX that will not start. One day I went to start my car for work and when I turned the car on, I had no dash lights, dome lights, no power whatsoever and when I turned the key, obviously the starter did not kick on as well. I thought it was the battery but tested with a volt meter and found that my battery, as well as the alternator, were working properly. My buddy suggested it could be the starter so we tapped on the starter with a hammer and the car sluggishly started. I installed a brand new starter, but the car never started like it did. It felt like the battery barely had any power to crank over. I was able to start the car for a couple more days but here just last night, I went to start it and it turned over but almost instantly after it started, it died and now I' m back to not having any power whatsoever. Please, if someone has any idea what the problem is please give me your input because I am thoroughly confused, thank you!

This probably won't help you much but I would try getting another battery and giving it a go despite what your volt meter told you.

Long story short, one time arrived in LAX and my Mustang wouldn't start. My know-nothing-about-cars wife said "it's probably the battery." In my know-everything-about-cars way I ran a series of test and deemed that, as I suspected, she was wrong. A tow truck, car rental, 2 hour traffic jam at 3 in the morning, return trip to LA from Bakersfield a day later...the dealer told me "it was just the battery." I hate it when she does that.
