KARR alarm associated with radiator fan?
KARR alarm associated with radiator fan?
I have a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. I took it in to the shop because the doors were randomly locking and unlocking. (Sometime it would happen for no reason, sometimes when I drove over bumps, and sometimes when my left foot would touch a wire that was in that vicinity.) The mechanic told me that the problem appeared to be caused by the security system the car has, and that it appears to have stopped now that they have unplugged the wire powering the security system. I said this was fine because I didn't actually use it. This was a KARR security system that came with the car. I disabled it literally the week I bought the car because the car alarm would go off when I was driving the car for no reason. (the system was quite stupidly tied to manually locking or unlocking the door on the driver's side). The system was disabled but still powered I guess (it had a little mechanical thing attached to the dashboard with a blue light--and that blue light always stayed on, which makes me think it was disabled rather than completely turned off electrically).
So I took the car home and realized that while the locking issue was fixed, now whenever I drive the car it appears to have a cooling problem. The gauge after 5 minutes will move completely from C to the midway point. After I turn the car off (especially if I had the AC running) a fan under the hood (the radiator fan?) runs really loudly for a good 5 minutes. I have had this car for 10 years and have never seen this before. I called the mechanic and he said this was in no way related to disabling the lock system (can this be true?) and explained to me (like I'm an idiot) that when the car overheats the fan turns on. Has anyone experienced this association between the car alarm and the fan?

Re: KARR alarm associated with radiator fan?
That whole system is no good. Get it removed compleatly. It sounds like the alarm was not installed correctly. Any GOOD Tech can pull that alarm out and repair the wires.
