Cranked for about a second and stopped. All dash lights come on, but turning key does nothing. Tried jump leads and a booster pack, makes no difference so doesn't seem to be battery related. Tried spare key too to make sure not a fault with that. Have cleaned up and tightened battery terminals, Tapped starter. Was working fine the day before, anyone know of any common things I could try before an expensive call to the garage?

Have you checked all of your fuses and relays?

If possible, take your starter out and test it just so you can rule that out as the problem.
