Timing belt getting shredded
Re: Timing belt getting shredded
no it wasn't due to cheap parts....it was user/installer error, it was the fact that you didn't use the grenade pin when you installed the new tensioner,
if the tensioner base is not aligned properly there will be TOO MUCH TENSION on the spring!
the grenade pin is used to align the base when you tighten the tensioner bolt
the same thing would have happened with a honda tensioner! it was the spring that failed here, not the tensioner, and aftermarket tensioners come with a honda spring!
if you failed to use the grenade pin AGAIN, the same result is likely to happen!
it doesn't matter if it was crushed or deformed....it was the spring that broke and failed, not the tensioner.....and why did the spring break and fail?....because it was too tight! (see remarks above!)....the hole was deformed because the spring was too tight
YES!.....you didn't install them correctly!

It indeed was the little brass insert in the new
, I'm mean never ever worked, part that had been crushed and deformed. Although the spring had a broken end

Bottom line can anyone say why my spring failed the first time and then the new one in two week???
