I just bought a 2003 civic with a bad ISB. It's been making noise for at least six months. Other than ISB noise in 2nd and 3rd gear the transmission works well. It shifts perfectly. I did a bunch of research on the subject but I can't seem to find a timeframe until the transmission completely fails.

How will the transmission act towards the end of it's life? Will it just fail? I could swap it now, but if the problem is not critical I rather use it for a while longer, maybe even a year?
