Help needed
While changing the radio out on my girlfriends 2004 civic(hybrid) I managed to drop a socket somewhere behind/in front of the cup holder . I put everything back together, drove it and everything seems to be fine. I really don't want to take out the entire center console if everything will be fine for a little socket. I was just wondering if there is risk of something happening that can screw something up later on down the road? Also what exactly is beneath there?
Any help is appreciated guys.

Like mikey, I'd take it out, but that's how I am, as well. That, and it takes me all of 5 minutes to remove my center console. It shouldn't do any harm.
Re: Help needed
I'm not worried about the socket, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything under there that could cause any issues.
Another quick question. She has the hybrid which has the CVT transmission. It has the super irritating "shudder" from initial take off. It only has 80,000 miles but is out of warranty, I dug around a little a seen that the only "true" fix is to rebuild the tranny and I'm damn sure not going to pay for that. Should she just turn the "economy" button off and sacrafice a few mpg, or should I make an attempt to flush the tranny on my own?

Re: Help needed
There were a lot of warranty extensions, product updates, recalls, and software updates on all those cars. Have you visited a Honda dealer about this yet?
Yes, you can DIY the fluid. If you can change the engine oil, you can do this.
Most of them SEEM to shudder. Most people put up with the annoyance rather than pay a lot to fix it.
Regular fluid changes seem to help, but don't eliminate it completely IMO.
Use the proper CVT fluid from a Honda dealer. It is not regular ATF.

And no "flushing", stay away from JizzyLubes.
Drain and fill only.
Multiple times if need be, but no machines or chemicals.
Read this bulletin, it gives a burnishing procedure to do first, then if that doesn't take care of the shudder THEN you do some real work......or ignore the shudder like everyone else. (BTW, you're probably well past the 7 year warranty extension on this.)

It's not really a complete rebuild, it would be replacing the start clutch assembly. The trans has to come out to do it though, so it's still a lot of work.
