2001 honda civic LX transmission problem

Hey guys,

I am not a mechanic but have done some work on civic. My car has issue. it is an automatic trans. It does not go move on drive even if I hit the gas padel. It does the same on reverse gear.

Someone told me, it has to be transmission.

What are my options?
how much money damage am I looking at?

for a long time, I wanted to have a manual transmission. Is this the time to go for that option? the car has roughly 130k miles on it. timing belt was changed around 90k.

Any replies will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 honda civic LX transmission problem

a fairly common problem.....you can look at having a used or rebuilt tranny installed which will probably be at least $1500, or sell the car as it is

Does the speedometer show any speed when you do this, or just lay on zero?

If it stays on zero, you need a transmission job.
If it moves, then you should have an axle or CV joint problem.

Update: I got a mechanic run the engine core and the code we got is P0730.
Something about inaccurate gear pressure. I am looking towards a selenoid valve A/B replacement.

any comments?

code we got is P0730.
Incorrect gear ratio.

That's a "code of death" for these. It would get a trans replacement here.

Re: 2001 honda civic LX transmission problem

The torque converter clutch has failed and the clutches for the gears are very near failure.
It cost me $2,456.27 for a rebuild.
