Please help with problem. 2005 civic fuel/computer?

Just wanna say hello everyone, this is my 1st post and was hoping I could find help.

I have a 2005 civic 2dr manual (ex)? Not sure .
I've had the car about 3 weeks and has run fine for the first 2. I revved the engine to high in 2nd gear and bounced off the limiter. Since tht very moment I've had what seems like a fuel/computer problem.
When I start the car it has an idle problem. Ie almost dies then doesn't. Does this for about 5 mins. When it almost dies the check engine light comes on(blinks for a second) then goes off and idles reg. after about 5 or so mins it goes in a safe mode. The check engine light stays on and rpm gauge and temp gauge die. Each gear is only good for about 10mph. 1st to ten 2nd to 20 3rd to 30mph etc. (safe mode)? I've taken it to a few ppl and its not giving any codes. I've bought a new battery, checked the ground. And still having the same problem. I'm a poor student and was hoping to fix this myself.
Please if anyone can help thks a million

if the check engine light came on, it should be giving a code,

why rev it that high in the first place?

these are economy cars/engines, not race cars,

your timing belt might have jumped a tooth or two, but it could be many other things so no need for me to speculate or take guesses

Took it to another shop today, they were stumped. No codes

And To be honest, I was on the phone and trying to flash sum1 while turning. I bought an economy car so I wouldn't get any more tickets

I revved the engine to high in 2nd gear and bounced off the limiter.
This alone won't hurt the engine. That's the purpose of having the rev limiter, to keep from doing damage to it.

But if you grabbed the wrong gear and caused the engine to rev up far higher than the redline/rev limiter (over rev), that can do serious damage. Valves can "float" when over the rev limit, possibly coming into contact with the pistons.

When it almost dies the check engine light comes on(blinks for a second) then goes off
Probably normal function when the engine speed drops below approx. 400 RPM. If no codes set/stored/retrieved, then I'd assume that's what is happening there.

Until I read about this next part here:

after about 5 or so mins it goes in a safe mode. The check engine light stays on and rpm gauge and temp gauge die. Each gear is only good for about 10mph. 1st to ten 2nd to 20 3rd to 30mph etc. (safe mode)?
Uh oh....Sounds like the PCM just went brain dead.

Most likely cause: Check the alternator mounting hardware.

(I know the article says 01-04, but 05 is included in it, same car same problem. The article came out in 04.)

Why the idle hunts, I have no idea at the moment. But I think you need to fix the major problem first as it all is likely to be related.
