P0134 Code - Troubleshooting?
P0134 Code - Troubleshooting?
I had autozone pull a P0134 code after the engine light came on in my 03 Civic SI 2.0L which reads as follows:
So, how do I go about testing for a short circuit or poor connection?
And if it IS a faulty sensor, is it the one in the upper exhaust pipe? or the one sticking out of the converter?
thanks
A/F sensor 1 heater system malfunction
Probable cause:
1 - Open or short circuit condition
2 - Poor electrical connection
3 - Faulty A/F sensor

Oh, I remember you now......Are you Canadian?
Sensor #1, upstream, or B1S1, is the first one in the exhaust. The one in front of the cat element, not in or behind the cat element.
P0134, A/F Sensor, No Activity Detected
99% just need a new sensor. It is not an Oxygen sensor, it is an Air-Fuel Ratio sensor.
Similar appearance, similar function, vastly different in construction and operation.
Use DENSO, NTK, or factory parts (Denso and NTK are both OEM).
Item #17 here (for US cars):

No. Bosch. Evar.

Re: P0134 Code - Troubleshooting?
Look the wiring over real good, make sure it isn't rubbing on anything or rubbed through the insulation and exposed bare wires anywhere.
I watch data on the scanner. If the sensor shows activity at all, then the wiring is probably ok and the sensor itself is faulty.
Most of these sensors fail for this particular code intermittently, so catching it in the middle of a failure is tough.
I keep spares of many of the sensors in my toolbox, makes it easy to just plug one in and check.
I would probably just toss a sensor at it.

Not really. The hex is 7/8 inch, like any other O2 sensor.
Here are a couple examples of the special tools available, pick whatever fits your needs.

Oh wait, nevermind.
The maint req'd light is the oil change reminder.
Most places that do oil changes don't remember to reset it.
Reset instructions are in your owners manual.
