I've got a 2005 Honda Civic SI that's got a tick or a grind in the engine where between gears 1-3 is loud and gets quieter for gears 4-5.

If I'm idle the sound is there but if i'm on the clutch while idle the sound goes away..

Would this be the clutch plate, barrings, or as far as the tranny? Or am I completely off..?

Sounds like it's the input shaft bearing. Tranny will have to be removed from the car and taken apart to replace it.
