ECT Sensor

I never received any replies on my overheating post and I'm still working on it. So far I changed the thermostat and that seemed to fix my over heating problem. I also bled the system after installing the antifreeze. My problem now is that my temp gauge is reading about 2/3 of the way up the gauge rather than 1/2 way where it was before. I also just let the car sit for the last 3 hours, it is not by any means warm here and the gauge is still reading at about 1/2 when I turn the ingition on, and when I feel the engine, it is cold. Do you think it may be the ECT Sensor. Thanks in advance.

Re: ECT Sensor

And a most knowledgeable link it is. I already read it. But right now I'm not over heating. I can drive the car anywhere, let it idle, whatever, the gauge doesn't go above 2/3's. And like I said, the car has been sitting for the last 3 hours and when I turn the key on, the gauge goes to 1/2 without even starting the car. Maybe the ECT Sensor?????

Could be.
The gauge is operated by data from the PCM.
I would use a scanner to see the datalist from the PCM to read what it thinks the engine temp is, then use that information to make my judgement on what the next step would be.
