Rep Power: 0 Hello..new to Hondas
I picked up a 2002 Civic with 57000 miles on it. It had been smashed and repaired..well..mostly repaired. Went for a safety inspection today and failed. The front lower motor mount is broken and the CASE , I guess its called, is broken. Top pic here is from the top down. Second pic is from under the car.
Second pic---The square piece is the bottom of the mount-the chunk that's missing was where the bolt goes that holds the bracket. Anyone seen this before and whats the fix? Thanks.
Sorry for the bad pics....

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Hello..new to Hondas
When I see stuff like this, I put my glasses back on.
Or take them off, depending on how close I am to it.
I'd take it to a welding shop.
We have a welding shop right around the corner from us that does good heli-arc on aluminum too. (You may need to take apart and remove stuff from the area so they can get in there to work though.)
May not be pretty, and there may be some risk.
If it works, it will save you a tall stack of loot.
But if it doesn't work, you needed a trans to fix it anyway.
(Or engine. Whatever. Is/was that attached to the trans? I can't tell from here. LOL)

Got it welded today at a fab shop down the road, charged me $150, seemed like a fair price.
First I stopped by a Foreign car shop, His response was --''get it welded, if that doesn't do it then we can replace the bell housing, but it will be pricey. ''
So to be clear BlueEM2 it wouldn't be a block-just the piece between the trans and block-which would mean taking out the trans...or...trans and motor.
But I need not worry about that ..for now.
