2003 A/C issue

Hi, I have a 03 civic lx and my AC dosent blow cold air but the light on the AC button is lighting up. I've been told by a mechanic that my AC system is working fine and I just had to change a switch. Does anyone know which switch he was refering to?

Thanks,

Dom

Re: 2003 A/C issue

The reason for your car's AC not blowing cold air could be a damaged A/C clutch switch. A damaged switch will not allow the clutch to engage properly with the compressor and as a result, the air will not get cooled. You can ask your mechanic again for confirmation of the part, and if you are looking to buy that switch, I've found out a best place where you can get it for a good price.
Here's a link to that part, its from ACDelco brand with a part number of E2272

Start the engine and switch on the A/C leave the windows or doors open such that the cabin doesn't reach the desired cooling temperature for the unit to switch off.
Open the bonnet and shine a flashlight on the very center of the compressor pulley.
Is it stationary while the air-conditioning is on?
If so, then that's the switch he is referring to.

I'm gonna guess the pressure switch that is located on the drier.
You need to question your mechanic in a way that will get you better answers.
