Egr

I have a reoccurring P0401 EGR error for my 2005 Honda LX (D17A1) and it is time for emissions test. I tried to a new EGR valve and it didn't fix it.

I want to take off the manifold and scrub the ports on the intake side. Is there a way to loosen just the manifold and scrub or do I need to take the TB off and then the manifold just to reach the ports.

Also, other than the DIY guide below:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...fold-swap.html

Is there another DIY guide for removing the intake? When I put the intake back on, should I buy a new basket?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Egr

Why did you replace the EGR valve first? Did you test it? Seems like a waste of money. That $125 could have been better spent on a manual (~$60) and a steak dinner.

Yes you need to take the intake manifold off to access the EGR passages. If you don't have a manual find a good online source for diagrams.... I like hondapartscheap.com.

Edit:
And yes, I would install new gaskets. #1, #8 and #10 in that image. And some suggest injector o-rings(#20 and #21) if you remove the fuel rail. Oh and put some motor oil on the o-rings when you reinsert the injectors. Makes life easy.
