I bought a nice 03 Civic EX this summer and the only thing wrong with it was ugly bubbled tinting in the rear window. I took it to a window tinting shop to have it removed and the guy scraped off all my defrost lines. Along with ruining the defroster, this caused the defrost backlight not to work at night time when the head lights were on. (the other buttons backlights work). But the button lights up and stays lit when pressed.

Anyway, got a new rear windshield put in but the backlight still doesn't work.

I'm not sure whether the defroster works now or not...we had a bit of a snow storm yesterday but I couldn't really tell whether the defroster was working because it wasn't icy...just snowy.

Does the button backlight not working indicate an issue with my defroster? What can I do to fix this?

No, the 3 button switch assy uses neo-wedge bulbs for illumination.

If the illumination in the other switches is working you likely just need a bulb.
