I forgot pulling off the tensioner pin!!!!

I replaced the timing last night. It was my first time and took me about 13 hours. I worked all night. so tired....

I used 6 foot 1 1/4 steel pipe to break off the crank shaft pulley.
I do not want to do it again... really..

I followed some DYIs here in the forum. The car is running perfect. Everything is fine. No bolts or nuts were left.. Perfect TDP...Ha Ha..

BUT

I think that I forgot pulling off the tensioner pin(grenade pin). Is it OK?
I think that it is not...

Is there anyone who had similar experience??

Re: I forgot pulling off the tensioner pin!!!!

Good news is you do not have to take it all apart to remove the grenade pin! It will be sticking through the bottom timing belt cover and you can remove it which needs to be done. Might have to take the tire off and any plastic to get your hands back in there. There also is a rubber piece that fits in that opening where the pin is now to keep debris out so look around for that. Only concern i would have is when i removed my pin i did it after i rotated the belt to where it had the most slack and then removed it. Do not know if that is necessary with these engines since there is some slack in them which is normal. Too much tho could be dangerous down the road.. Your need to take that out and i would not drive or run the engine until you do!! Kudos for removing that bolt, one of the worst i have encountered on any vehicle..
