My fix for P1457 code
My fix for P1457 code
I own a 2003 civic ex with 208500 miles it and has really been trouble free. I did finally get a cel with the P1457 code. I did the usually and search on line and didn't really find fixes seemed like alot of people have gotten the light with problems fixing it. Here is what I did. I looked over all the lines for cracks and any disconnected and found were ok. Then purchased OEM purge valve ( engine compartment) and shut off valve( connected to evap canister) with shipping for $70. I installed the purge valve first alot easier 30 minute job. The light improved it took 9 trips to turn on instead of the normal 3 trips. I then went after the shut off valve on the right side of the evap canister, what a bitch. Between screws rusted and having to be drilled out and the rivnuts in the can aster breaking loose when drilling them out was insane. Let's just say a little Rtv is good to have on hand. The evap canister must be dropped not that hard 1 bolt which on mine broke in half and one line that has two clips that need to be pulled out to remove the line coming from the fuel tank. With it back together and multiple full ups and 1000 miles no light. Hope this helps.
