CEL Codes P0700 & P0702

96 Civic EX...
Mechanic just pulled the following codes but didn't actually tell me what they mean and what it might take to fix...Just told me this was not worth fixing.

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
P0702 Transmission Control System Electrical

If anyone could shed some light here, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: CEL Codes P0700 & P0702

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
P0702 Transmission Control System Electrical
Try a few other code readers.

P0702 is an impossible code for a 96 Civic.
Code reader that was used cannot be trusted.

Just told me this was not worth fixing.
That may just mean your mechanic can't figure it out.

Re: CEL Codes P0700 & P0702

The CEL was reset after he read it and is not on currently.
Do I need to wait until CEL comes on again to check it with other readers?

Re: CEL Codes P0700 & P0702

If the codes were erased at that time then all pertinent data was erased from the computer memory, and you will need to wait until it happens again.
