Brakes Grabbing

Hi,
Just curious I have a 2k2 Ex Coupe with a little over 6k miles and while I am normally braking after the first few seconds the brakes seem to what I would describe as grabing. To better describe it I would say its a smooth normal break then all of a sudden it jerks and grabs and then returns to a smooth breaking. This has happened ever since I have had the car brand new and the dealer says evrything is okay.

Is there anyone else who has had this problem? Or anyone who knows what is could be? Thanks for your help

I don't know whether or not you are breaking "hard" but it sounds like your ABS reacting. Are you breaking hard enough to activate it? Or, are you braking gently and smoothly? I don't have any braking problems under normal braking. Good luck.

The car that started the website.

Sounds like something is going on with the abs. You are either pressing the brake too hard or something is going on with the master cylinder. Well, that's my theory anyway. I would pay very close attention to the circumstances under which this condition is ocurring. It would help the dealer narrow the problem or "recreate it" as they like to say.

It's your transmission. I have a 2K1 and it's done this since I bought the car new. Next time you are braking watch the tach. You will see it jump up right at the time you feel the grabbing. I have had my car in to my dealership several times for this. Unfortunately they say they are not able to "reproduce" the problem. I just keep taking it back, complaining and having them drive it. Hopefully they will notice it eventually.

Thanks for the help... I have thought about it being the ABS but it dosen't do it when I brake hard just the normal everyday breaking. Hmm I do like the trans idea I will have to watch for that. Now that I think about it, it seems like it is down shifting real hard like u feel the torque for a breif second. I will watch it for a few days to see what it could be.
