major problem

Any help is appreciated.

Just had an engine swap on my 2004 civic ex. After about 250 miles of driving on the highway at 3000 rpm the tach shot to 4000. Got into traffic and then the car wouldn't come out of first gear. Got off the highway and parked the car. When I started it back up the shifter was locked and the check engine light was on. The code was for the barrometric pressure sensor. The brake lights do work. When I drive it it can't go any higher than 2nd gear.

I think this has to do with the engine swap.

Thanks guys.

Re: major problem

Sounds like the connection came loose at the sensor.

Re: major problem

It should have been the same type engine that came in it. 1.7L vtech. The mechanic told me the barometric pressure sensor had nothing to do with the locking of the shifter and the tranny problems. Are you talking about a different sensor? What else besides the brake pedal switch and a selenoid can case the shifter to not shift out of park?

Re: major problem

can you hear the shift lock solenoid clicking when it engages? can you pry open that small hole in the shifter and stick a key into it and then move the shifter? the baro (map) sensor is prolly unrelated but also a problem. it is near the throttle body and bolted to the intake mani. prolly worth replacing if the engine code came up.
