2002 Honda civic problems
Hi I am a new member to this site, I have viewed it many times but have never made a account, now I have because I have a problem and need some help.
Ok so some back ground to whats happening.
I have a 2002 honda civic EX coupe manual trans with 130K miles on it.
I have owned the car since February of this year. Some time over the summer I noticed a sputtering sound on hard acceleration and at low RPM (1K and less). This only happens when its in gear and driving.
Sorry this is so long I just want to give all details and back ground just incase things are connected.
So I figured it needs a tune up, so the other day I did a tune up on the car, oil, spark plugs and air filter, I also put a bottle of injector cleaner in (concentrated stuff, it wasnt junk).
After this tune up I was driving and the CEL came on, and a strange noise was coming from the trans area of the car (under the shifter kinda) I just figure its tided to the CEl. Get to my friends house and I pulled the codes, it was the air temp sensor (I forgot to reconnect it).
So I connected it and drove the sound i was hearing is not there. I drive some more and about 30 miles latter the sound comes back.
This is what I hear, when I push in the clutch to shift a "whizzing", almost like something is spinning and rubbing at the same time, sound is given off for a second then stops. ALso on deceleration (in gear let off gas) it makes a clinking sound like a nut is bouncing around (if I push in the clutch it stops). I dont feel anything slipping, it shifts the same way it did before this problem, so i think it has something to do with the clutch. any ideas?
Also after this tune up when I am just idling, I get a smell of gas through the vents. I stepped outside the car and dont smell anything. ANy Ideas on this?
If you can help that would be great. Because this is driving me crazy, I didnt do anything out of the normal to the car.
P.S. I am going to change trans fluid today, so I will post if the sound goes away after that but I doubt it.
