Driver Side Window Stuck, 2001 LX
Driver Side Window Stuck, 2001 LX
Hi, I have a Honda Civic 2001 LX, 2 door, automatic transmission (emission not California).
So one day I decide to hit the down button on my automatic window and the window just crashes down into the door. I don't think the glass is broken at all, and I can still hear the motor grind up against something when I try the up button. I managed the pull the window halfway up, but that is about it.
I've read some stuff, and I found out that I need to either replace the window regulator, or the rubber run channel, OR nothing is wrong and it just got dislodged somehow (I live in TX and we've had 100 degree weather for the last 30 days or something).
So, I found the following guides:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...vic-coupe.html
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/2...egulators.html
http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/H...ide/index.html
My question is, should I order these parts or open up the car door first to see if these parts are even needed? Wonder if I can just re-lodge the window or something as I don't feel like spending money on a 10 year old car.
BTW, I'm a total car newb to the extreme. I do mostly computer stuff.
Edit: Parts I might need are 72250-S5P-A03 and 72275-S5P-A01 for a total cost of about $130.

I would see what happened before ordering any parts. Make sure the plastic holder that connects the glass to the regulator is still in place.
Pull the door panel and have a look.

Right I'll probably do that, though I wish I had more details on exactly what to look for as I don't really know what the "rubber run channel" looks like installed properly.
If anyone else has some insight before I give this a go this weekend, I'd appreciate it.

easy.. i just replaced my driver side regulator on Monday. if you pull the door panel and find a couple of metal wires and a round white plastic piece laying inside the door jamb. you need a regulator. I used a sheet metal screw to hold my window Up while the part was enroute. i ordered it on Amazon.
search this if its your driver window. price was 49.77 for the regulator. i ordered a denso downstream o2 sensor at same time and got free shipping on both. take some pics if your unsure of whats going on inside the door ill try to walk you through it.. pretty easy to change the regulator tho.. its plug n play.

Re: Driver Side Window Stuck, 2001 LX
if the window went crashing down it IS your regulator.
however if needed i can explain what to do to keep the window up while awaiting repair. pretty simple and only leaves one screw hole on the inside of the door behind the door panel.

add: I chose to pull the glass out of the door and set it down in the grass while i did the swap. not sure i would trust a few pieces of tape to hold the glass up. .
