this is in a 2005 Civic Si, when I'm going full throttle and shifting from 1st to 2nd at about 7k rpm, i hear a moderate grind when shifting into second. any other gear doesn't happen, just second gear. has anyone experience this or anyone have a simple but effective fix? thanks!

I have the notorious third gear grind. This is my third rebuilt tranny. Best soulution for me, was switching to an aftermarket fluid (i.e. Redline, Royal Purple, Motul, AMSOIL, etc.). Frequent changes have lessened the problem, but it never goes away.

hmmm, I also read somewhere that stiffer engine mounts could help? oh well, i don't fly through 1st or 2nd gear on a daily basis, i just hope it doesn't explode

2nd and 3rd gear are the most abused. The synth. fluids, like suggested,, help the issue. With those two gears, I tend to time my shift so it slides in like butter now. Also, make sure you're flooring the clutch. When I got my Civic(first manual), I didn't do that and I got a wake up call pretty quickly.
