Moonroof issues - opened fine, now it won't close.
Hey all.
My moonroof opened up fine last night and now it wont close. I hear a "click" up in the roof when I hit any of the open, close, and tilt buttons but there's no moving going on.
Took it to the dealer and they showed me how to close it manually. (there is a little plug in the center of the headliner between the sun roof and the rear window. oyu use a coin or a flathead to release the plug then you can use an allankey to crank it shut.)
Any ideas?
My auto shift release solenoid is also going, and my cruise stopped working a few weeks ago. Related?

Re: Moonroof issues - opened fine, now it won't close.
more than likely a bad roof motor if all you hear is clicking (means the switch works, but the motor doesnt). my plan when this happens is to remove the motor and make it a manual roof. not sure if thats possible tho. i think the motor supports are what keeps the glass in place. you could unbolt the moonroof glass and remove it too. changing the motor isnt easy or cheap.
i dont think anything is related tho. shift release could just be the solenoid went out, or you have a loose wire to the dash fusebox. cruise has its own wiring system not connected to anything else.

well, that might explain the cruise problem since there is no load from the filament bulb so the cruise turns off. doesnt happen on every car but its happened and there is a fix. the moonroof is not related...
