question about trans issue

alright so i'm having a trans issue (cel p0730) it shifts fine when the car is cold, then after warming up it starts slipping, which i then lose d, d3, d2, until i lose every gear even reverse. if i turn the car off and let it sit for a while and cool down some i can start it back up and drive, with little or no slipping then it starts slipping badly again. has anyone had this prolem and fixed it or just replaced the trans? i did some research about it and it says to replace the shift solenoids, i was wondering if anyone else has done that to fix the problem or if it just continued. so should i just replace the solenoids, or pick up a used trans? i don't wanna spend $2k for a rebuild, or $4k for a jasper, too much money to put into the car with it having 165k miles. trying to stay around $1k or less if possible. i can get a used trans from lkq for $650-775. so i don't see the point in spending $200-300 for the solenoids, and shift valves unless its pretty much a sure thing to fix it. its an '03 ex at. any help is appreciated thanks

its in a small corner of the radiator. just follow the cooler hoses from the trans to the radiator.is your D light flashing on the gauges or is the engine light on?

Re: question about trans issue

yeah i checked to see what it meant but couldn't really find anything, so i was wondering if anyone had the problem, and fixed it and what it turned out being for them. however i just ordered a used trans from lkq with 75k miles so i was wondering how i can just double check to make sure they shipped me a auto trans for a 03 ex thats of course vtec and us/canadian built, is there some kind of code, marking, casting or stamp i can check?

Re: question about trans issue

01-05 auto trans should all work for any 01-05 year civic. so long as there is a dipstick, it should be an auto. lkq is pretty good about sending the right stuff. just make sure it looks the same as whats in the car.
