Squealing Problem
Squealing Problem
I have a squealing problem coming from the alternator area in a 2005 Civic. I have tightened the alternator belt time and time again, but it always seems to start squealing again. I don't think it is just coming loose because I have cranked the mounting bolts down pretty good after tightening the belt. Anybody have any ideas? It doesn't seem like it is causing any mechanical problems so I'd even take something that would just mask the ridiculous noise. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Squealing Problem
If it goes away then comes back after driving for a bit then it's likely coming loose and you need to tighten it more, the difficult position of that nut makes it difficult to get tightened properly.
If your sure that it's tight enough either your belt or pulley bearing need replacing.
