AC Not Blowing Air
AC Not Blowing Air
Well, for a while now my civic has not been blowing out any Air at all. I checked all the fuses everything is ok. I was scanning around under the hood and found this little black cylindrical box thing around where I believe is the AC Fan. Its connections is a little weak but I dont know what it is so I was hoping somebody could tell me what it is. I snapped a couple photos of it. I also checked the AC Filters to see if that could be it but even w/o the filers installed still no air. I don't know which fan is which on the grill but both of them were operating so they couldn't have gone bad.I really badly need AC its been touching 100degrees Farenheit this whole week. I am a big DIYer so i would rather do it on my own than take it to a shop.

Re: AC Not Blowing Air
Search the transistor threads here.
Try this, with the cabin filter out look in on the blower fan and see if it trys to turn a tiny bit when the blower switch is 1st turned on (key at II)

Re: AC Not Blowing Air
Sorry for cutting in on the thread but that happens to my fan, I turn on my car everything runs for 2 seconds then it turns off. I had a mechanic take out the fan and it tries to spin just a bit as I turn it on. Are you able to help me?

Re: AC Not Blowing Air
If so... possible open TCO on the transistor assembly.

Re: AC Not Blowing Air
The transistor is mounted under the dash close to blower fan and in the airstream of the blower fan to help cool it.
If you have never changed the cabin filter the transistor unit can get hot enough to open the TCO. You can either locate the open tco and replace it or simply replace the transistor assembly as a unit.
Here is a link that may help. Don't use a resistor as a replacement. Find the correct size tco or replace the assembly.

Re: AC Not Blowing Air
FYI the TCO you replaced is a safety part.
That is not my diy... and not the part I would have used.
I suggest you get the TCO and do it properly.
These are TCO devices: http://www.cantherm.com/products/thermal_fuses/sdf.html
