The pandora effect : ( Noise underneath the timing belt cover.

I am at the dealer right now. There is noises coming from underneath the timing belt cover which happen around 2200 rpm. It is reproducible. where the noise originated, I can feel the vibration coming from the cam gear. I hope it's not grinding bones or anything. I couldn't wait for anything to break so I came to the dealer and let the mechanic to diagnose it. However, my car has 89K on it and if things happen in the timing belt area. I will let them change the timing belt + pump. after 10%, price will come up around $580.

This will be the third major fix for my car already.

1st - the alternator
2nd - the starter
3rd - the belt

Alright,

Back from the dealer. I paid $260 for P.S. belt and Timing belt were changed. The tech told me that the water pump was ok so they did not change it. I am like... ok However, the noises was gone and I am happy for temporarily.

I talked to the appraiser to estimate my car. It's $3500 which is super low.

Hopefully, there is no problem coming again.

Glad to hear it was a simple fix.

The funny thing about the dealer is that they always left some bolts out on the windshield area. Last time, at the different honda dealer, they left 2 nuts and bolts. This time I found another 2 #10 with washer. I look at the area and guess that they are from the between the A/C line and the P.S. Pump. I'll upload the picture. They always **** me about the small things. However, dealing with timing belt. I won't trust outside but the dealer. Since, I and one of my friend had bad experience after belts got changed.

I actually trust an outside reputable mechanic more than the dealerships to be quite honest with you

Kennykid2002,

I could not find trusty one around here so dealer is my first choice for the risky task. Actually, the goodyear place that I have them replaced the alternator aren't that bad. However, they are still below my standard.

Here I posted two pictures where the technician forgot to put the screws and something else back properly.

Lessen learned, I should have checked the work performed by the tech at the location and not at home.

Thanks. I do not know what to do. My wife will buy a new car in the next 5 months so I will have to sell the Civic and I will drive the CR-V instead. ei ei

There is actually a bracket missing there... supposed to be a bracket that holds the AC line there ... I'd go back and make sure they reinstall it even though it's no big deal.

I drove back to have them installed. However, they have to special order that bracket so I will have them installed next week. The service manager gave me two complementary oil changes. I'll pass those coupons to the wife instead.

Thanks tbohar.
