SRS airbag light on all the time
Hey guys,
I noticed all the threads about side airbag lights and heres my 2 cents about that first. I have that problem to but only when the person in the passenger seat puts all their weight on the side of the seat. Took it to the dealer and they told me it was because the sensors wear triggered to let me know my passenger was in an unsafe position for airbag deployment. Now my problem. Today my normal airbag light came on and it wont go off. Anybody had this problem too? If so could you please let me know what was done to fix it. I have an appointment with the dealer on Tuesday and would love to be able to make suggestions so my car is not there for a long time. Does anybody know if we have had any problems with faulty sensors? Thanks for all your help.

do you have a custom stereo system in your car? well, i do, and that damn SRS light came on also. my dealer told me its cause of the aftermarket stereo and they wont fix it under warranty. actually- they wont do anything to it, unless i want them to disconnect my system. if anyone knows how to turn that damn light off- please respond

did they tell you EXACTLY how your stereo system has anything to do with the airbag system? if not, take it back and remind them that federal law states they have to PROVE the mod caused the problem in order to void the warranty

I do have an aftermarket stereo but that is all. I had it put in back in august when I bought the car. My light just came on the other day. You might want to talk to somebody about how your dealership is denying you warranty service. I don't understand how a stereo system would affect your airbag system. I would not imagine that they share any of the same wirring except at the harness.
actually they did say its something in the harness thingy but i had my stereo for about 10 months now and the problem never surfaced before. it came on after i was messin with the engine compartment and made some sparks fly from the battery - dont know if that could be the cause of it, as of now, im gonna keep on driving with that little light on
Guys check the DIY part and try to reset your SRS light that way.. .If it still comes on then argue with the dealer cause then you know it is a recurring problem. B ut often resetting the SRS light solves the prob lem if it was just a sparks fly issue.
How does the dealer know it wasn't there before you put the aftermarket stereo in? Tell him it's been there long before that or try a different dealer.
I have had this problem several times. Evidently, the air bag sensors are supers sensitive in these cars. I think SIDE AIRBAGS are sometimes more trouble than they're worth.

Believe it or not, tampering with the switches under your seat may set your SRS light to be on constantly. Thats what happenes when i stuck on my racing seats. Don't worry, there IS a DIY to allieviate this problem. Just look under the DIY section. It takes a a few tries to get it right but it DOES work.
Ya, I had that problem when the dealer installed a new seat harness. Something to do with senors in or under the seat is what makes the SRS light go on, the stereo should have nothing to do with it cause I have one and the dealership didn't say anything about it. They just fixed it under my warranty, no questions asked. They actually apoligized cause it took them almost 2 hours.
That's a good dealer JSwhaler... which dealership was it? I have been to planet honda a few times in jersey and they weren't too bad. My friend's father just started working at Madison Honda, supposedly they are very service oriented. I am gonna try them out for my next oil change and rattles...
