Civic si 2002 No Heat problems

Today i bought this civic si 2002 with 106k miles. As i drove the vehicle for 1 hour straight home i tested the AC and to my surprise no heat was coming out of the air vents. The car is not overheating, On full power the AC fan does not kick in, However, I left the engine running and both fans do come on at the same time to cool the engine off. Coolant is at level, no leaks. I did find this hose disconnected and just sitting on top of the battery coming from the top of the coolant reservoir which i have no clue where it goes. There is a small hose from the coolant reservoir going towards the radiator which is securely connected. Any advice will greatly be helpul. thank you in advance

what the heck is that thing next to the battery with the red cap? i have a feeling its some sort of aftermarket part installed with a turbo or supercharger that was removed before selling, possibly like a methanol injection. i hope its not or you just bought a seriously abused car. take some more pics of that can tied to the battery and if theres anything in it. this is a stock engine bay.

I will take more pics in the A.M since my iphone does not have flash and its dark at my street. The bottle with the red cap is the coolant reservoir and when purchasing the car i knew it was an aftermarket part. Here is the video of for more detailed visualization of the engine bay http://vimeo.com/21503933

Any advise will greatly be helpful.

oh okay. did you see my post in the other thread about stuff to check? like the heater valve switch in the back of the engine bay. just look back there til you see two smaller heater hoses going into the cabin. there should be a valve on it with a lever and cable. when you turn the temp dial in the car, the lever should move back and forth to let coolant into the heater core to warm the air.

that hose hanging there is prolly an overflow for the coolant reservoir. normally nothing should come out unless there is an overheating problem or blown headgasket, then coolant maay start coming out. i wouldnt leave it on the battery but rather just let it hang so it vents to the street.

Hmmmm..... If you look at gearbox' picture the coolant overflow is clearly on the passanger side. That hose (in the video) comes out of the odd tank with the orange cap on it. Time to crack that baby and have a whiff... If you pass out you know it's bad. I have a feeling they relocated the coolant overflow to that odd tank for some reason. Possibly replaced the rad with an aftermarket and the overflow pipe was on the wrong side so they moved the tank instead of replacing the rad again? I just remembed the overflow pipe comes out from the same place as the rad cap so that kinda throws that out of the equation... get that checked man thats ODD.
