Time to replace my Timing Belt!

Hey guys! Last month I bought a 2002 Honda civic ex coupe. I took it to a Honda dealer, and got the 40-points inspection done. They told everything was great with the car, but I need to replace the Timing belt because the car has 90,000 miles and that is when it's recommended to replace it. They told me that it would cost me $750 to do it there. Does anybody know if that is a fair price? Can I get it done some where else for cheaper? Would you recommend any shop that does a good job?
It is my first car, so I'm kind of lost still.

I appreciate the help!

Re: Time to replace my Timing Belt!

Welcome to the forums!

My dealership quoted me just under 1k. I did it somewhere else. I replaced mine at 127k but I try to never drive above 3000rpm. Just find a shop and ask em for a quote

If there's one thing Ive learned about my 2001 ex it is BE AWARE of who u choose to work on your vehicle. I've had dealerships try to screw me, quick lubes overfill an engine oil change, and mechanic shops that forget to do their "top off fluid service"

My TB job was just over 600 bucks. I went to a Honda dealer which has a great rep, so I knew my car was in good hands. I'd go with what the above poster said and call around. You never know. You might get a steal .

Re: Time to replace my Timing Belt!

I just had my timing belt replaced by a local shop, Honda wanted 470 for the belt, another 150 for the water pump. The shop i went too, replace the cam seals, tb, water pump, a plastic cover and a few gaskets and seals for 540 with tax. So call around and find a good shop.

Re: Time to replace my Timing Belt!

Isn't the service interval for the timing belt/water pump at 105k? I had mine done about two weeks ago for $585, btw. Since the car is new to you, I would look up Gearbox's Forgotten Mods DIY thread and take care of all of those things as well.
