Maintenance Tips

Alright guys, I'm 18 and just recently started to really get into cars and was just wondering what are the main things you should do to keep your car running great and going as long as possible. I know to check tire pressure and change oil, but what are other things that I should be constantly maintaining to keep my car up. Interior, exterior, and engine. I don't wanna take my car in to Honda and have them rip me off to do basic things I can do myself. I was looking to buy an M3 but was on their forum and realized that I am not ready to handle and take care of a car like that haha. I have checked Google and looked around just cant find anything to thorough. My car is a 2002 Ex Civic. Thought if I was going to ask anyone I should ask you guys . Go as thorough as you can and thanks!

FINALLY! An 18 year old who realizes that an M3 is to much for them to handle! You just earned some serious respect from me.

Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here.
I'd suggest you read over this thread: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/7...e-up-mods.html. it covers a few great things you can do to keep your engine running well.

Re: Maintenance Tips

Mindbomber pretty much gave you a chunk of the stuff you'll need. Id like to add, during oil changes, check suspension and steering components if you can. I use ramps in my garage, but during tire rotations, I check for freeplay in those components. Maintain the fluids as well and you should be good to go. Most people neglect the simple stuff and that's what ends up causing all sorts of problems. Depending on where you live, you may wanna invest in an oscillating sprinkler attachment for a hose. That's if you have a house or whatever. When it gets warm, I hook it up and let it clean all the salt and other crap they splash all over the road from underneath my car.
