VTEC Problem
VTEC Problem
Alright I gotta 2004 civic ex. A code popped up P2646 (VTECH OIL PRESSURE SWITCH CIRCUIT LOW VOLTAGE). So I read some forums and changed out the solenoid with a new one. The whole solenoid part came with a new oil switch too. The check engine went off, I drove it around and the light came back on and its the same code. I don't know what to do next.

Re: Vtech Problem
check oil lvels. v-tech is oil pressure activated, and if you level is low, it will not work and throw codes - sorry, but that was the least expensive action you could have taken before trying sensors...

Not the VSA system, but the filter is mentioned in the civics also (they have same engine, mostly

Re: Vtech Problem
i am at a loss, unles the oil passages are clogged somehow.
Mine were an oil leak, so low oil level. the manuals cite the solenoid, oil switch, the filters, beyond that, just to check for normal checks, like for wiring, oil conditions, etc.
Ah, there was some notes for spool valve in the solenoid
let's see if someone else butts in that have had this issue

Re: VTEC Problem
if the screen is clean and oil is full, its prolly the vtec oil pressure sensor. lol, i just noticed thats what your engine code is for. yeah its the sensor. you can get it separately i think instead of buying the whole thing.
Re: VTEC Problem
Yea it's funny though because I bought the solenoid piece and it came with new oil sensor then hen code came up again I bought a new switch from autozone cost me 89 dollars had to special order and it still reads p2646

Re: VTEC Problem
autozone switch? i wouldnt really recommend aftermarket parts for important stuff like switches and sensors. you might have an ecu problem then.
