Another quick question, i understand that timing belts should be changed at around 90k miles but my car has 70k and im planning a 24hour trip to FL. Should i replace the timing belt now or should i wait?

Any advices? TY

Re: Timing Belt Replacement

Timing belt changes are based on age of belts, condition and mileage. If you haven't reached age or mileage, then have someone you trust check the belts and tell you if they're in poor condition and require changing.

Re: Timing Belt Replacement

Wait. I pulled my timing belt at 80k miles here in Canada and it was in brand new condition. If your really worried about it get it checked out but checking it is a pain in the ***, you can't really see it without removing the valve cover.

If it says change it at 100k miles... than change it at 100k miles.

Re: Timing Belt Replacement

Depends what shape it is in - if you have had all this time right up to the 70k it may well be worth changing, but if there is nothing wrong with it, then don;t worry about it

Re: Timing Belt Replacement

I agree with some of the others, definitely take it into your trustworthy mechanic you usually go to. Have him look and see.

In my case, I bought a Honda Civic 2001 EX and couldn't figure out if the timing belt had been changed. Well, I bought a new one and my timing belt had NEVER been changed and it was at 118,000 miles. So I would say you should be okay as long as yours is in good condition.

Hope this helps!
