Trouble starting the car..

Seems like after the car sits for awhile (4+ hours) it takes a few seconds to start, the longest one took like 4 seconds for the engine to turn over. Just replaced the spark plugs a few months ago and i think the battery is fairly new. Also, my friends aunts daughters washed my car today and I caught one of the kids spraying the hose down my exhaust pipe... So after they were done I turned on the car and it sounded so weird, and when I reved it water sprayed out of the exhaust, it sounds so weird though. is this bad for the engine?

It probably sounds weird because if there is water in your exhaust pipe it will change the acoustics of the pipe and give off a different sound. I'm not sure how far back the water could make it, or what kind of damage could be done but I would assume it's not the best thing for your car. Especially if it could make it to the engine.

I also get a similar issue with taking a while for the engine to turn over. I replaced the spark plugs a few days ago and the battery/alternator are less than a year old so that shouldn't be it. But every now and then it will take 2 - 3 seconds before turning over, sometimes I need to hit the gas a bit to get it going. My only other guess would be checking any other areas of the starting/ignition system.

I think that is normal. It might just need to build up fuel pressure.
