Replacing Windshield Molding
Replacing Windshield Molding
I have run into a problem with a 2002 civc ex that i recently bought. When it rains, water comes through the top of my windshield. If I get some heavy rain, it will be pretty bad - water dripping/pouring through, all over my dash. But usually, i'll just notice water marks on the inside of my windshield from a previous night's rainfall. So, I recently picked up the top windshield molding piece that runs along the outside of the windshield. But i'm now having a hell of a time getting the old one out. My plan is to take out the old one. Fill the whole between the windshield and the roof of the car with some sealant. Then, put the new molding in.
Any body dealt with this, or a similar problem before, who may have some tips or insight? Much appreciated.

Re: Replacing Windshield Molding
Go down to Harbor Freight and get the METAL automotive trim kit so you don't damage the trim. Don't get the plastic kit even though it's dirt cheap- it's no good.
Sorry man, looking at the procedure again I noticed I left out a couple of steps- look at number 2 as to the steps I missed earlier.
If you look at the top of the right hand page you can see the pic to take off the top molding.
Sorry about the fuzzy pics- phone cam. Hope this helps.

Naw, it's a service manual for all civics '01-'05. Got it here: http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage...051&Style=helm
Re: Replacing Windshield Molding
In case you were worried about me,
after attempting to take off the upper windshield molding, I gave in and gave my local honda a call. They directed me to Lehman's Garage, who took a look at the seal on the under side of my windshield. They ended up just pumping some sealant up there, free of charge, might i add. It's been just about a week, and i just went through a self serve car was to test the seal, praying it would keep the water out. appears to be holding up pretty well.
If you ever need window replacement, body work, or anything of the sort, I strongly suggest Lehman's garage. Not sure if they are a national company, but they're great here in Minnesota!
