Question Front Oxygen sensor for 2004 EX prices

I'm sorry to fire up a whole new thread for this but I need some insight as to why there is such a huge price difference for the front Oxygen sensor on my 04 EX. I've checked the code (P0135 heater circuit malfunction), I checked the resistance (ohms) at the sensor on the two white wires and found the problem to be in the sensor (Thanks to a previous thread on here that explained this beautifully). Ok so I gotta replace the sensor. No big deal. So I go to my local autozone and they want $250 for a four wire "wideband A/F" sensor. I check at my local Honda dealer and they want $310 (not even a reach around included) I coughed and choked a lil bit and decided to check online. I'm finding everything from "OE"exact fit (color me lazy but I don't want to splice wires) from $60 to $280. If I have to get the high end wideband A/F for it work correctly I'll suck it up and do it but if I can get away with a correct 4 wire unit for less than $100 then I'd like to save a few bucks. This is a bone stock machine and I plan to leave it that way. Somebody enlighten me.

did you by any chance look for narrow band sensors? 03+ are wideband.

Re: Front Oxygen sensor for 2004 EX prices

I've checked multiple sites online and they seem to offer non-A/F 4 wire setups but they do not list them as narrow vs wideband. It is an 04' that comes with the wideband A/F type and I don't want to install anything that won't work correctly. My question is really has anybody used a narrow band in place of the wide band and had it work correctly.

Narrow band and wide band don't mix.

So to beat this horse completely dead, if it came with a wideband then replace with a wideband and suck it up. Just because a sensor is sold as a 4 wire "OE" compatible this does not make it a wideband alternative. There sure are a lot of online sites/sellers willing to sell you the wrong sensor touting it as an "OE" compatible out there!

it's not about the sensor only, it's about the ECU as well to understand the signal being sent. Likely using the wrong glasses...
Not really sure about the sites you looking at, sorry. I go for the ones that does not offer a 75% off offer, they usually costs 10x more in the long run.
