help with my 02 ex auto trans

I have an 02 civic ex vtech with an auto trans. The problem is the trans is fried. I have an 01 lx with a good trans and bad motor. Some say the two trannys will interchange, some say no. Does anyone know for sure if they will work??? I would really really appreciate someone's answer who knows for sure.

Re: help with my 02 ex auto trans

the shift points and gear ratios are different between lx and ex. not sure what that would cause when driving. i would say try and find an ex trans and definately not such an old year. at least look for 04-05 trans which are supposedly built a bit better. 01-02 trans are guaranteed to fail.

I have an 02 ex also I am currently running with an LX trans and have no problem, been using the LX trans for about two years already.
The car used to be auto got messed up and instead off replacing it with another auto tranny I just did a trans swap.Cost about the same price.

5 spd? Where did you find it? I am about to give up on the bmxa in mine and swap in a 5 spd, need so much to do it though that I would rather just find a car that is crashed in the front or something so I can take it all; trans, axles, pedal, pedal box, clutch master cylinder, ecm, etc. I don't know if an lx would make codes though, don't want check engine lights and all. Want to do it all, like it was there from 0 miles....
