How would you know if something's wrong with your o2 sensor? or fuel pump?
How would you know if something's wrong with your o2 sensor? or fuel pump?
From what I've read online the symptoms my car's showing look to either be a problem with the oxygen sensor, or possibly the fuel pump
If either of those are the problem, what should I be feeling? How would I know if one of those has a problem?
I have a 2001 honda civic si
From time to time whenever I drive the car, for the first kilometer or so the car lurches back and forth, with power cutting in and out. Sometimes the engine has even cut out. This doesn't happen every drive, and if there is a problem, usually after about a minute of driving the car smooths out and drives wonderfully, like as if nothing was ever wrong.
When the car stalls it's not like a stick shift stall, where it'll toss you back and forth, or even like a cough stall, it's just like an immediate stall, revs from 700 to 0, with like nothing in between.
Could it be the o2 sensor, or the fuel pump? Or something else?
Your help is appreciated!

is there a code for fuel pressure? im not sure but an easy way is to just check the line pressure and see if its within spec using a special gauge. but if you say the car sometimes drives normally, i kinda doubt its the pump. it could be partially clogged injectors tho. usually when the fuel pump has a problem, the car drives terrible all the time. problems like this are hard to figure out because any number of things can cause power loss and rpm stalling including oxygen sensor, plugs, sticking or clogged idle air parts, etc. its best to start with easy stuff and work your way up.
