Oil Pan Replacement

Hey guys,
I have a 2003 Honda Civic EX and cracked my oil pan. I bought a new one and installed it yesterday.

The new pan fits just fine, but it does not have the holes drilled for the two mounts that attach to the tranny . The picture below show the mounts, the area where they are supposed to go, and the old oil pan holes.

Do I need these mounts? Will it be O.K. if I run my car without these parts?

I know this sounds stupid because they are obviously there for a reason, but why would "Spectra" (oil pan manufacturer) make the same oil pan as OEM just without the holes? All help is greatly appreciated!!!

Did you have to drop the from exhaust to remove the oil pan? I have a 2001 Civic DX and my oil pan is rusted to hell,,,,
Cheers

I just replaced my 2002 Civic EX oil pan and I did need to drop the exhaust by the oil pan. I just removed the two flange bolts and then pulled off a support located in about the middle of the car. Just doing this will give you plenty of play to get out the old pan and put the new one in.

The LX/DX/VP is a bit different than the EX with a steel pain, different transmission mounts and the catalytic converter up with the motor instead of underneath - but dropping the first half of the exhaust I would think would be similar.

Did you buy an aluminum or steel pan? The Civic EX with the D17A2 engine (as opposed to the DX/LX with D17A1) uses an aluminum pan with places for those transmission supports. My guess is the spectra pan you bought was for the DX/LX model. Not sure if this will cause any problems not having the transmission braces or whatever they are there
