Rep Power: 0 Need to add 7th gen VSS to '89 Integra Trans
For various reasons ranging from insanity to the rules of my race series, I am putting a D17A2 attached to an '89 Integra trans into my 82 CRX. My only remaining problem is that the '89 Integra has no VSS. The Integra pulled the VSS from s speedo cluster, which is long gone and I am not confident that the Integra VSS signal would satisfy my 2004 Civic ECU.
So I need to figure out how to add a Civic VSS to my car. My thought is to buy the stock Civic VSS and mount it near a half-shaft, then weld a small tab to the halfshaft to provide a signal. But I don't know enough about the internals of the Civic trans to make a good guess as to how to do this. Any thoughts on:
A) Would this work
B) How big does the tab need to be (and should it be magnetic)
C) How far away should the VSS be mounted
Any help is appreciated. The 5k RPM cutoff makes clowns sad.
