AT gear selector not lining up - can anybody with a factory manual help?

Can anybody with a factory service manual help me out? I replaced the auto trans in my car but now the gear selector doesn’t line up. I tried my best to get the detents in the shifter to match with the transmission expects but there was no way for me to get it to match. If the detent for Park matches with the transmission actually being in Park then moving the selector to Drive means the car isn’t in any gear at all (no lights light up on the dash). I can get the car in drive by selecting a point half-way between two detents.

I asked the dealer to adjust the cable but they looked at it and said it’s not the cable. They claim it’s the gear selector switch, which I believe is the piece attached to the transmission that I moved from the old to the new one and is what the cable from the shifter attaches to. However, I know for a fact that the selector switch had zero problems in the old one so I don’t think that’s likely.

I’m curious if the factory service manual has any advice on this. Is there a recommended way to adjust the selector switch? Are there any notes in the manual that pertain to getting the selector switch to line up? I used the Haynes manual to do the replacement and it never makes a mention of the selector switch but I’m curious what the official manual has.
