5000 mile gas mileage report

Mostly suburban type driving... waiting at traffic lights, traffic, a lot of braking, etc. I stayed off the highway, so all local driving.
A little A/C use, but not much. No hard acceleration.

31.4 mpg.

I think more a/c use will lower that figure.

Here are the fuel consumption statistics for the first 15000 miles of my 2002 Canadian Civic LX-G, 75% of 60-70 mph highway - 25% city driving.
I have converted my Canadian MPG figures into Miles per US Gallons

October : 37.3 mpg (US)
November : 37.2
December : 32.8
January : 30.5
February : 31.4
March : 33.1
April : 36.3

As you see, the fuel consumption is particularly dependent on the exterior temperature. On my last tank (driving in the first warm days of Spring), I calculated 40.4 MPG. I assume that this summer, it'll probably hit 42 - 43 MPG.

the difference might be more based on winter/summer gas

I get about 32 MPG using 5w30 Mobil 1 synth oil stock. Little hard on the gas. Winter drops gas mileage alot because air becomes much more dense... you also gain about 3-5HP on really cold days..but the tires get so hard it's useless lol.

On the freeway our cars are amazing at around 45-55MPH at 65+MPH mileage starts going down alot.

Cheers
