Sounds a bit rumbly to me...
Hi, just joined the forum (from the UK ). My son has just bought a tidy 2002 1.6 SE with full service history and 96000 miles. The car drives well and looks good but for one little thing. When on light throttle or pulling gently at about 2500 - 3500 rpm I think I can hear a slight bottom-end rumble from the motor (a bit 'cranky' or 'endy' as we used to say). Some people have told me it sounds normal for a V-TEC and that it's a characteristic of these Jap motors to sound a bit harsh. Is this true? Do we need to be concerned? Look forward to hearing from someone who is familiar with these motors. Kind regards, Big Kev.
