O2 Sensor EXPENSIVE. I hate you HONDA!!!

What the heck is up with the O2 sensor prices for civics? I can't believe how expensive those things are. Does anyone know the difference between the following sensors:

1. Denso Air Fuel Ration Sensor: W0133-1600700 $280
2. Denso Oxygen Sensor OE Style: W0133-1621411 $250
3. Denso Lower one is $80, cheapeast I could find.

The whole thing may cost up to 500 if i get them from the dealer. I live in Canada and I can't believe the rip off cost of import parts .. guess that's what i get for buying an import.

Anyway, anyone know if i can use a universal sensor for a 2005 civic dx D17A1???

If i remove the sensors from say an '01 civic with the same motor D17A1, will they work fine in my '05?

Thanks.

You need to get the later model ones because you have a wideband sensor. The earlier models still run narrowband, which isnt as cool. You cant use one from the same motor code based off of just any year because its ECU specific. Its not because you live in canada and you have an import, its because the technology is more expensive for wideband because it can do more then narrow band.

01-03 civic sensor is dirt cheap, i paid around $100 for both cause they are just narrowband sensors. 04-05 uses wideband a/f sensor which is much more expensive. i would not get universal sensor, it wont work properly.

Just think though, by having a wideband o2 sensor you don't produce as much hydro-carbon's AND you car goes into closed-loop faster, allows you to run at you normal A/F ratio and saves you gas. I got the upstream O2 from advanced auto for like $170.

I had the same thing. $295 CA for the primary and about $250 CA for the secondary. I have an 05 civic as well. I wouldn't get the universal one either since I think you have to cut wires and splice them together.
