Honda Civic 2002 Coupe Lock and alternator whine

Hi everyone,

I had a mechanical issue with the lock while trying to put it back in place after installing new speakers in the front doors. Not the LOCK itself but the button that controls opening the the lock or closing the lock while inside the car. Its located right next to the door handle and its jammed..it usually sits straight but mine isn't. If anyone knows how i could fix that that would be of some help or where i can get another one.

I also had a alternator whine coming from my speakers that i cant figure out how to get rid of. I have an amplifier hooked up in my trunk with power lines running from the front of the car the back...and rca cables and speaker wire also running in the same place from the front to the back and a subwoofer is also attached. My ground wire is perfectly installed....it is less then 4 feet long and is screwed into the bottom of my trunk. I tried moving it but it still didn't go away. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it...? Anything will be appreciated because this sound is SOOO annoying

You should run your power cable and RCA cables on different sides of the car. That could be your problem. Do something like power cable down the the center, speaker wire and RCAS down the sides of the car. This could help your alternator whine problem. Also, I hear certain decks do this a lot. Especially Pioneers. What kind of deck are you using? The door handle I would take apart and try to center it out. You have nothing to lose if it's already broken. Play with it and i bet you can fix it. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is where you can find a replacement.

Good luck.

I forgot to add... watch your power cable routing under the hood. Don't let it get too close to things that might disturb it. Such as the alternator.

In my previous car the entire sound system was pioneer and I didnt have a whine. You are right about running the wires on opposite sides, but the ones that should be opposite are the power cable and rca cables. I had the power cable running down the drivers side and rca and sys. control cable running down the passenger side. Just my 2 cents..

You said run the power cable down the center and the other cables on the sides. The only thing I was correcting was to run the power down one side, and the other cables on the other side.

yeap it's preference... some like it down the center some like it down the sides is all... I see what you are saying. My point is as long as they are separate, they are okay.

Well, the only other things I can think of are if you are not already using a wiring harness, use one of them. Also check over all the connections especially at the reciever. It's better to solder the wires together, but as long as everything is tight it should be fine.

Your right soldering is the best way. I just crimped mine and then taped over it. Did you make sure the power cable is directed away from other sources of energy. Such as the alternator.

Hmm, this is the first time ive heard of a ground loop isolator so I cant really speak credibly, but I did some reading on them. At this point, you've pretty much covered everything you can. I say you have nothing to lose, and I would try it. From what I read, it seems like it should work. If that doesn't work then I guess it could be the headunit which kinda sucks, though like I said before I had a pioneer setup that I loved so idk.
