srs repair costs

Hey all Im looking at buying a used 02 civic, 60 k auto. Problem is the SRS light is on in the dash. I called Honda dealer and of course they need to diagnose it to give me a price to fix it.
My question is: Does anyone know of a "typical" thing/cost it takes to fix this? Honda told me it could be easy or could be up to 2k to fix it. I don't want to buy this car and have to stick 1 to 2k in it, its not worth it.
thanks

Re: srs repair costs

They won't reaplace the part for free.... My SRS light has been on and it supossedly is the seat belt. I called Honda cause my dealership says that there is no warranty on the seatbelt and Honda said that they only replace the seatbelt under warranty (3 years from when the car is bought) and if it has a factory defect... it's some bullshit... try to find a shop to diagnose it and then figure out what you need to do. Dealerships are way overpriced...

Re: srs repair costs

wait!!!!!! before you bring it to them.. try doing this!!!!

take out your positive and negative off your battery.... THEN wait for 1 mins.. put it back in.. see if the SRS light come back on.. if it does.. then you got no choice but to take it to the shop... if not.. give me half of the money you were going to give to the dealer.. >.<

AVOID DEALER!!! they tries to rip you off even if your car is perfectly fine!!

Actually they will! There is a shop here in minnesota that diagnosed my srs light. They just need to have the particular computer that can work with it. Some Honda computer.

Call around for local shops that specialize in imports and your bound to run into one that can diagnose and repair it...
