Question Wtf is this noise?!

I have this horrible tapping/knocking sound coming from the upper side of the engine. Towards cylinder 1 is where it seems to be coming from. IT IS NOT A ROD (thank god) this has been confirmed via a stethescope and measured bearing clearances. I lashed the valves and they measured ok. It's only audible under 2k rpm and its pretty loud. Has anyone run into this before?

I'm suspecting that maybe some water splashed into the tensioner bearing of the timing belt and the bearing in the tensioner is bad? Someone please help, they want $200+ to do anything and I want to have a much better idea of what's going on before i spend 500 and still not fixed the problem... Please help me guys

Re: Wtf is this noise?!

Figured it out. The cam gear bolt was loose. Duh. I'm worried about warpage in my head now... any chance of this? Tightened it up, it purrs like a kitten. The Car runs like **** now and pings, ill try lashing the valves again because i think i got them on too tight. Have to check the position of the cam gears too to make sure it didn't skip any teeth, i'm hoping that with that bolt being loose:

a) My cam isn't warped
b) The gear didn't slide and take my timing out of whack.

I have the same magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 15767. Also some of the forum sponsors usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.
